Base Station Array

Summary

In April 2008, in collaboration with Dr. Antonio Di Noia, I designed a base station array at frequency band 870 – 960 MHz for GSM cellphone networks. The design consisted of two phases; first: the required feeding current amplitudes and phases were computed in Matlab to satisfy the required specs (e.g.: beamwidth, tilting, etc); second: the array element size and positions were identified to obtain the required bandwidths, gains, VSWR, etc, using CAD software 4NEC.

Design Material

The m.file for computing the currents is available here. The 4NEC configuration settings are available in the report (see below).

Reported Work

A report of the work is available here, where the 4NEC simulation parameters are shown together with the simulation results.
